Testamonials

We've had lots of wonderful feedback since opening in 2012. At our old location on SE Carlton St., we accumulated over 20 5-star Yelp reviews. When we moved just 5 minutes away to our new location on SE Harold, we had to create a new Yelp business page, and lost all of those kind reviews from SE Carlton. Most of the Yelp testimonials below are copies of those original Yelp reviews from our old business page. Google and Yelp have many new reviews for our SE Harold location on their sites.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words!

“Khan was amazing! I had a formal long dress that needing altering to cocktail length. She saw me right away and had it ready in 2 days! Plenty of time for my event. She even suggested bringing in the waist to show off my curves more, which had people coming across the room to tell me they loved my dress! I will returning with all of my future alterations! Plus she doesn't break the bank. You won't regret taking you most complex projects to her! (She even gave me the bottom cut off portion of my dress and suggested making another skirt out of it at a later date). Khan thank you for making my special event even more fabulous!!” Lele (Yelp)

“Don't get your alterations done anywhere else! Khanh is a rockstar and SO affordable. I bought a big bag with 15+ alterations minor hemming to major fixing up, and she did everything at a very fair rate and with exceptional attention to detail. I can finally wear some of my old vintage favorites again! Khanh is so friendly and competent, clearly an uncommonly proficient seamstress. Khanh even had the confidence to tell me to let go of an old skirt that needed so much darning it was nearly beyond repair. She let me know that she could fix it but that the quality of the fabric had deteriorated so badly that it would likely get holes in other places. That honesty really meant a lot to me as I probably would have just paid the fees only to find new holes again in a few months. I'd never have found this place without Yelp; I'm SO glad I did. I will always recommend that my friends and family get their alterations done here.” Joni (Yelp)

“I wanted to submit a testimonial because my husband was so pleased with his pants! My husband often needs pants hemmed and has had quite a few unfortunate experiences in having them done poorly. He bought a pair he loved that needed hemmed and tapered at the leg, so we set out to find someone to alter them. Khan did an amazing job- he says they are perfect now! Great price and really quick turnaround. We are thankful to have a great seamstress so close to home who can take care of his pants in the future! Thanks Khan! We'll be back!” Amanda Paxton (Website)

“I highly recommend Neighborhood Alterations! Khanh, the seamstress, is an absolute delight--sweet, friendly, professional and accommodating! Not to mention her sewing abilities are AMAZING and does the job perfectly every time for all my alteration needs. I live in Vancouver but travel to her business in the Portland area because I know I will always be happy with her work. I'm kind of a hard fit for clothes, and I have some expensive clothes, and she is so patient with me and works very hard to get everything done to my satisfaction every visit. The alterations are very affordable too, ranging $8-10 for most services. I just can't give enough praise to Khanh and Neighborhood Alterations!” Nicole (Yelp)

“I had my dress taken in and K did a great job! She was finished with the alteration in less than a week. I will take other clothes for alterations to her.” Darissa (Wedding Wire)

“this is the most awesome place when you need quick, efficient alterations on wedding dresses, and other items. LOVE LOVE LOVE....” Joyce (Square)

“My dress fit perfect after being altered in only a week, even with the waist needing to be taken in & pockets to make things even harder. I was already satisfied with my experience & then it only ended up being $45. I was hoping to have it altered under $100 & was more than pleased with the price. Thank you soon much!” Abby (Square)

“Khanh is always super reliable & friendly - wouldn't use anybody else!” Rudy (Square)

“Very professional - fantastic tailoring!” Kimberlee (Square)

“Khanh was awesome!! We were in need of alterations done quickly and she took care of us right away and at a VERY reasonable price. I will be recommending her to everyone.” LD (Yelp)

“You won't be disappointed! Khahn is amazing. She's super flexible and so easy to work with. She will give you honest about what”is" or”isn't" possible when it comes to your alterations (I had a pair of jeans that I was hoping to turn into”skinny jeans" and she explained that it wouldn't work because of the material, original cut of the jean etc.). I came to her studio with several pairs of jeans (to be hemmed and to have the leg tapered flare to regular boot cut), dress pants and a down jacket (it was floor length and I wanted it hemmed to just about my knee). She got the job done in just a couple of days, and her work was flawless- you could never tell that my clothes were adjusted in any way. And to top it all off, her prices are soooo reasonable. I will absolutely be going back to her with additional items and will be passing her name along to all of my friends/family.” Katy (Yelp)

“Awesome just simply awesome,This is exactly how a business should be ran.I have been to some businesses where i felt mistreated and ripped off. Khanh is the best and she does business right.i hope you will check her work out for yourself and see that she is not all hype but such a delight!” Rigoberto (Yelp)

“I created a Yelp account just to share how awesome my experience with Khanh was. I texted her, set up an appointment later that day, and brought in a pile of pants and dresses that have never fit quite right. I tried each one on with a general idea of what I was looking for, but she had a great eye for where exactly the garments should fall and was happy to advise me. I had one dress I was thinking of shortening, but she suggested a completely different alteration that would update the style. The clothes were ready in a few days, the price was great, and the work is beautiful. I will go back whenever I need alterations.” Jennifer B. (Yelp)

“Khanh has altered several different items for me, and I have been very pleased with them all. She has a very good eye for fit but has never been overly pushy. The turnaround is fast, the price is right, and she is a wonderful woman to boot. On different occasions she has: 1) Widened the seat and lengthened the legs of two pairs of suit pants I bought second hand 2) Narrowed the waist on some dress shirts 3) Tapered the legs of both denim and dress pants Would recommend her in a heartbeat. Just give her a ring and figure out when would be a good time to swing by.” Max (Yelp)

“Khanh is an incredibly skilled seamstress. I brought her a Pendleton sweater that the seamstress at Pendleton told me couldn't be altered to be form fitting. Khanh was up to the challenge. She did an excellent job and saved my favorite new sweater being a return item. She is also incredibly nice and fast working, she did the job in 24 hours after other recommended seamstresses had quoted me 1-2 weeks. I was so impressed. I'd recommend her for any job and her rates are very competitive.” Joe (Yelp)

“I was so happy to find Neighborhood Alterations. Khanh Is so kind , so helpful, and very good at what she does . She altered my wedding dress within a week at an affordable cost. The dress now fits perfectly! I am so thankful for this experience and I definitely recommend Neighborhood Alterations!!!” Amanda (Yelp)

“I am so happy with Khan's work! She added some length to my linen jumpsuit and it looks great! She got it done really quickly and was extremely friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back to her for future alterations. Thank you, Khan!” Lindsey (Yelp)

“I brought my wedding dress in 3 months ahead of time thinking it would take a while to get it back. She turned around and had it ready in 7 days! She did an AMAZING job! Very reasonably priced for the excellent quality of work!” Allison (Yelp)

“Their alteration services are the best. My wife and I gave them several garments to alter and they were all done professonally and quickly. The new waistbands are perfect and my wife is very pleased with the way the pockets were tailored into the side and front of the garment--big deep pockets that don't show the front. Because their alteration service was so good we gave them some fabric to make a special garment. The new skirt fits my wife perfectly. The prices are so reasonable, we will definitely use their services again.” Richard (Yelp)

“Khan is so sweet and did a great job on my coat. It had a tear in the back which she fixed perfectly. Truly professional work. Furthermore, she had it ready in just a few hours and did it really cheap. You won't regret taking your clothes to her.” Michael (Yelp)

“Professional, affordable, fast, and friendly service. In the past I've had some very awkward experiences going to a business run out of someones house.... But, Khanh runs such a wonderful business out of her beautiful home. She's really easy to talk to, and great at listening to what you want. I was very impressed that she finished my 5 items of clothing in a single day, and when I came to pick them up they were folded neatly in bag! Not surprised she has a five star rating.” Ms. Palomera (Yelp)

“I brought my maxi dress to be hemmed as most of you know they are always super long, especially for us short ladies, and it was done beautifully and in no time! Khanh was fast, did a great job and was really kind! I will definitely bring all of my future alterations to her and refer all my friends as well! It also helps that she is located just a few blocks my home.” Danielle (Yelp)

“She hemmed and tapered my husband's wedding pants and the pants he was wearing to the rehearsal party in one night. $20 each, she was really sweet to us, and they look great.” Mrs. P (Yelp)

“Khan told me that I could pick up my new-hemmed jeans the next day. I was very happy about that but I couldn't pick it up till 3 days later. She was on her way out and offered to drop off my jeans (I live a few blocks away). She was very nice and my jeans looked perfectly hemmed. Great job!” Celeste (Yelp)

“This is awesome. She is very quick and very affordable. It also is nice to interact with someone who cares about you and the kind of service they offer. In addition to doing a great job she offered me advice on how to care for my garments.” Edith (Yelp)

“She's the best! I've never been to a service where it does not feel like business, she's absolutely nice and sincere. She talks to you and gets to know you like a valued customers! I'll definitely get all my clothing alterations here now on.” LeHua (Yelp)

“This is what Yelp is all about. I never would have found this place without it. Why? It's a tiny operation run out of a house. But the prices are cheap, the turn is fast, and the work is great. I needed some pants hemmed down into shorts on a quick turn. I pulled up my Yelp app and found this spot located in Creston-Kenilworth down off Woodstock and SE 62nd. A quick call confirmed that I could get the work done with one day turnaround for no extra cost. Pants hemmed up to shorts, looking good, and I'm ready to channel my inner Pharrell with my nice suit-shorts set. BOOM! $10 make ya holla.” Don (Yelp)

“Khanh was wonderful! She was able to see me right away and after trying on my bridesmaids dress for her she let me know that she thought it fit me wonderfully and was in fact not too long as I had thought it might be. She showed me the right way to put on and zip the dress so that it would fall correctly. I appreciated her honesty and integrity and will definitely go back to her for any alterations in the future!” Megan (Yelp)

“Amazing work! She replaced a zipper on a pair of jeans for me (not an easy thing to do) and did an excellent job. Highly recommended!” Elise (Yelp)

“I need an alteration and some knitting for two garments, and I found this place was the closest to me. Well, I am glad I came here, I called three other places and see had the best price. She fixed my pajamas and sewed up a small hole in my shirt for a low price (she even gave me a small discount), and she had it completed before the end of the day. Best price in SE, same day service, friendly, and easy to locate. She charges only $8 for most repairs, she is humble, and does the repairs her home. I am now a customer.” Mike (Yelp)

“This happy camper just got two pairs of pants (dress and cargo) hemmed a great deal (I have a long torso, okay?) in about half a day for an extremely fair price. Not only did this nice woman pin my hem quickly and produce an excellent hem, but she did it outside of normal business hours, allowing me to intrude ever so slightly on her personal life to make payment and receive the pants in the evening. I needed it quick, I wanted it done well, and I couldn't have asked for a sweeter seamstress to do the work. The $8 quote previously made was accurate in this case, but she totally earned the tip. A wonderful, human experience in an often faceless and unfriendly world.” Jake (Yelp)

“Wonderful, quick and inexpensive. I showed up with no notice, a dozen shirts to be altered and a short deadline. She measured me up, recommended a better approach and had everything ready for me the next day. And a volume discount. My shirts fit perfectly and look great. That is as good as it gets in my book.” Mark (Yelp)

“Wow... Just wow... My brand new $70 Levi denim shirt needed the sides taken in an inch or so. Nordstrom (where I purchased it today) told me seven days, and $18. Frankly, that seemed ridiculous, and I very much wanted to wear my new shirt out today, so I looked elsewhere. The odds were not in my favor, seeing as it was 5pm on Friday, but I called around hoping to find a savior, and a savior I found?.I arrived at her home where her family was eating dinner (I felt terribly intrusive) and she promptly measured me up and sent me on my way. 45 minutes later I return, and with a smile she hands me my shirt. ? I arrive home and try on the shirt to find it is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! I cannot recommend this woman enough. Sweet, humble, talented, quick, and inexpensive. Again, I gladly paid her twice the price she gave me. I will undoubtedly be bringing her every article of clothing I own in the very near future. Wow... Just wow...” Anthony (Yelp)

“Awesome quality. Awesome price. Awesome service. ? I have a favorite technical jacket that I literally wore the zipper out of, a pair of pants that I tore a hole in, and a vest that I busted the shoulder seam on, and my wife's sweater that tore apart on the sleeve. When I dropped the clothes off with her, she looked them over, explained to me how she would fix them so that they would be stronger in the future, and then told me they would be ready the next afternoon. Oh, and for $5 each item, except the zipper, which she did for $10 to put a brand new zipper in my jacket, along with a $4 charge for the cost of the zipper. Next day, they are ready and beautiful! My favorite jacket and pants are back in business, and I've found a solid tailor that will get all my business now on. Anytime I need something done, I will go to Neighborhood alterations. Thanks Khanh!” Paul (Yelp)

“I had a beautiful dress my sister bought in Italy several years ago, but the entire chest on it was shirred and the elastic, well... it no longer held the dress up. I looked on Yelp and found high marks for Khanh, so I took 2 photos of the sagging dress and added text commentary, and emailed her..?? She thanked me for sending the photos, took a few measurements, and said it'd be done ASAP. She fixed both garments, including taking several inches out of the sides of the top of the dress so it will now fit even if the elastic gives out. :) Khanh is a delightful person, she does professional work at a price that is hard to believe, and I'm so glad that she has an online presence. I highly recommend her for any alterations work. Plus her house is so calming; tranquil and orderly. I felt more at peace simply having come by and asking her to fix something I'd put off for years!” Kristi (Yelp)
